Vizag New Projects Post Bifurcation - NTPC Extension Rs 28,000 crores

NTPC is investing Rs. 26,828 crore in the project envisaged with four units each of 1,000 MW generation capacity installing supercritical technology. District Collector N yuvraj organized an environmental public hearing by Andhra Pradesh Pollution Control Board (APPCB) on NTPC's 4,000 MW coal-fired power plant.

Will this Create Jobs?
NTPC executives stated that they were tying up with IGIAT for training about 400 local youth on skill development in two to three years and would give preference to locals in direct and indirect jobs.

Opposition
CPI(M) with local people support protested against the NTPC project as the ashes discharged will pollute the ground water and affect fishermen livelihood.
